After a week of sluggish RSVPs, I began to wonder if this grand experiment was beginning to play itself out . . . but, of course, Monday Midnight Drawing Circle always surprises and delights . . . . .
We were a total of nine . . . one came early and left early . . . one came late after spending most of the time drawing at another table wondering where we all were . . . he finally approached us around 1:45am on his way out, injecting new life and art ideas into the circle and we all ended up staying another hour . . . . .
Mashure, currently working in Houston, took a roundtrip Greyhound just to be able to join us (Awwww) . . . . .
An old and dear friend came to work on writing a letter, inspiring us to pass around a group drawing to send to a family member who’s having a tough time . . . . . We pondered the Trolley Problem, panic attacks, and prescribing Gabapentin for every damn thing including declawed cat hangnail anxiety . . . . .
we planned our first Midnight Drawing Circle fieldtrip to Kick Butt Coffee’s Sunday open mic . . . . . we made art with markers, pens, pencils and paints . . . . . we discussed holding a Friday Midnight Drawing Circle at Denny’s (because Epoch is waaaaay too busy on the weekends to accommodate a Friday circle) . . . . .
These are my pieces from last night . . . sharpie on shiny paper . . .
colored pencil on sketch paper . . .
late night painting experiment . . . The guy who showed up late asked me if I ever painted . . . he then proceeded to offer up a groovy little canvas, nice paints and some copper foil . . . . . So interesting how each different medium speaks . . . . .
See Y’all Next Week!! ((((( hugs )))))
